Treasure Trunk makes donations for Children's Services

In
recent months the Treasure Trunk, a second-hand clothing store in
Sharbot Lake, has donated $500 twice to the Child Centre. The money has
been used to enable kids with needs to access programming at the Centre
that their families would not have been able to afford otherwise. The
first $500 sponsored children in the Summer Program at the Centre, and
the second $500 has provided subsidy for the After School program that
is offered.
“There are many children who can benefit greatly from these programs but are not eligible for government subsidy. The donation from the Treasure Trunk allowed us to offer programming to some of them,” said Susan Leslie (above right) in thanking Jane Drew (above left) of the Treasure Trunk.
The Treasure Trunk was able to make these donations from store revenues for two reasons.
“The Trillium grant we received this year for volunteer development has meant our staffing costs have gone down. As well, our sales from June through September were the best we have ever had since the Treasure Trunk opened,” said Jane Drew. “We are really pleased to have been able to make this kind of donation.”
