Social Justice Movement at NAEC

On October 7th, 2020, the grade twelve university Sociology class at North Addington Education Centre kicked off a campaign with Samaritan’s Purse. The class started the campaign to promote social justice and to help children and adults in third-world countries (Philippines, Kenya, etc.) that are affected by malnutrition.

With the Covid-19 global pandemic, students have learned that many of those who are dying from the pandemic are not directly affected but rather indirectly impacted through lack of resources, care and support.

More importantly, the students are aware of the one billion people worldwide that are suffering from malnutrition and they want to contribute to making a difference. Students have been working hard to get the word out in the community and to get donations. Each student has taken their part to participate in the team movement and are learning critical leadership skills while working for their social justice movement. With the money donated, the students are looking to give cows, chickens, bees, garden tools, and sheep to those who need it most in third world countries, in time for Christmas.
