Mini Seedy Saturday

Kingston Area Seed System Initiative (KASSI) is pleased to announce that they are holding a mini Seedy Saturday, November 23.

"Mini Seedy Saturday will give gardeners a chance to swap or purchase seeds in the fall -- to be prepared with seeds that are sown in the winter," explained Cathy Christie, chair of the KASSI board. "As always, the Seed Swap Table will be the central attraction.  We encourage you to bring your seeds -- vegetables, flowers, native plants, as well as shrubs and trees – to swap and share."

There will be workshops on winter sowing (10:30 am), starting seeds indoors (11 am and 12 pm), and local seeds and climate resilience (11:30 am).

Gardening veterans from 1000 Islands Master Gardeners, Gardening Kingston and Little Forests Kingston will be on hand to answer your questions

As well, there will be local seed vendors, taste tests, and music. Coffee, tea and treats will be available from the folks at Bloom Skill Centre.

The event will be held Saturday, November 23, from 10 am to 1 pm, at Cooke's-Portsmouth United Church, 200 Norman Rogers Drive, Kingston.

"And rest assured, we will be holding our full Seedy Saturday on March 8, 2025, at the same location," said Dianne Dowling, KASSI board member. "Mark it on your calendar and watch for details in late February."

KASSI was founded in 2011 to help build a local seed system with more people saving and sharing their own seeds, and buying from local seed vendors.
