Parliamentary Decorum

I have been watching our federal government ministers and opposition members on the chamber proceedings station and have never felt more embarrassed about our elected representatives. The Speaker has no control over language, gestures, and pure vitriol that comes when a member is recognized to speak.

Last week, the official opposition leader was asked to leave the chamber when he refused to take back his comments about the prime minister. In true procedural practice, his whole party left with him. I thought things would quiet down. I was mistaken.

Please teachers do not take your students to Ottawa to the parliament building. You would not allow this in your classroom. It is “politics”at the lowest level ever seen in Canada. Too bad that corporal punishment can not be used to control Members of Parliament.
